Getting started online is fairly simple but if you
are fairly new to the internet and are unfamiliar
with many technologies there may be a slight learning
curve.
Here are some things you should know about before
getting started online:

You should know what a domain
name is. If not, it's the name of a website
that usually consists of a keyword domain name related
to what it is that is being provided on the site.
Sometimes domains never provide details as to what
is being sold on the site, or what information is
provided on the site. If this is the case it takes
some hard selling to get the name out there. For
example www.Amazon.com. The name doesn't tell you
that it's books. But with some heavy advertising,
Amazon.com has grown to one of the biggest selling
internet sites online.
- Practice Using the Technology - The best
way to practice is getting online. Sign up for your
own free email account. Go to Yahoo.com or MSN.com
or both and sign up for their free email service.
This will get you familiar with computers, downloading
files links etc., and using different email providers.
The best way to embrace technology is to use it.
- Set Up Your Own Blog - Create a blog site
just for fun so that you can learn some of the common
words of the web. When you build a blog you are writing
content, adding keywords, and links to your site.
You may even want to add photos or even monetize by
adding advertising like Google Adsense. Why not set
up a blog about your most recent vacation? It's a
great way to familiarize yourself with the technology
but still have fun doing it. Learn how to upload pictures
and content. Once you're familiar with setting up
a blog it will be a good prep course to building your
own website. You can bold, underline add hyperlinks
etc. You'll be joining the online world, learning
to lingo and providing an enjoyable service to those
who want to know more about you and the places you
have visited!You'll realize how simple it is and get
more courage to set up your own website on a particular
topic.
