Is It Bad If Your Website Is Down?
By: Gina Hoover © 2008
How often is your website down? Are
you using a site monitoring service? If you aren't
monitoring your website, here are several reasons
why your website being down is a bad thing:
1) Anyone that comes to visit your web
site will not be able to access the website. Your
potential site visitors might get the dreaded, "page
can not be displayed" error. They might or might
not come back later, so youre losing that valuable
web site traffic that you've worked so long to get.
2) You'll loose any ad revenue that
might have been generated or income from product sales.

3) If search engine spiders visit your
web site and they can't access your website your rankings
may suffer. In extreme cases, the search engine spiders
might start de-indexing your websites pages.
No one's website can be up 100% of the
time because of server maintenance issues and the
occasional server hiccups. Whenever possible make
sure your site is up and stays up. You might even
consider signing up with one of the site monitoring
services that will tell you when your website is down
so that you can act accordingly.
