If you live anywhere around Memphis, Tennessee you know that this week is Elvis Week. This tribute to Elvis runs from August 9 through August 17th this year. There are all kinds of tourists visiting Memphis now. Several events, which take place each year on or around the anniversary of Elvis’ death on August 16, 1977, include tribute concerts, movies, an Elvis Expo and more.
The most popular gathering for Elvis Week is the annual Candlelight Vigil which will be held on August 15th at 8:30pm. That is really a sight to see. Thousands of the King’s fans walk up his driveway through the open gates to Elvis’ grave and back down again carrying a candle. It lasts throughout the night and until the next morning. Each fan get’s a chance to pay tribute to Elvis.

You know the other day I saw a live concert with Elvis on PBS. What I think they did was isolate his voice from the band’s music that he used at the time and had a live band play while they showed a video of him singing. I wonder what he’d think of giving a concert after being dead for 31 years.
