Free 2010 Spring Break Party Invitations

Spring Break is coming up next week. Time to take a break and relax and unwind. Get out and enjoy the warm weather.  If you are going out of town that’s great. There are many places to travel for spring break with warm weather and calming oceans. Last year our family traveled to Alabama for Spring Break and had a great time. We went to an Alligator farm and did a lot of other family stuff.  I had planned to take my family up to Gatlinburg for Spring Break. We decided not to go because we are saving to build a new house. With the recession being the way it is, you might have to stay in town also. Just because you are staying in town doesn’t mean that you can’t have an awesome Spring Break. If you have to stay in town why not have a party to celebrate the break. If you have a pool invite friends and family over to relax with you. If you don’t have a pool invite party guests over anyway to relax and enjoy the great weather.

The Spring Break party invitations have vector illustrations of beach scenes on them because most people go to the beach or somewhere warm. To use the party invitations, simply print them out and fold them up to give them to your party guests.

Don’t forget to make a printable envelope to gow ith your party invitation. You can find detailed instructions at our website.

Kontera 2009 Holiday Gift

Yesterday I got a holiday gift from Kontera in the mail. Considering the economic state this was totally unexpected. I opened it up and the package contained a white ceramic mug with a black silicone lid.  There was also a package of hot chocolate cocoa. Yum. I love cocoa. It’s nice to know that a company appreciates it’s affiliates.

This offer is good for one free holiday card per person and only valid for the United States. If you feel like being naughty in your message forget about it! Inappropriate greetings will not be mailed.

For those conspiracy minded or big brother is watching type folks, it’s noted that the address that you input will not be used for any purposes other than mailing the card.

How a Web Design Goes Straight to Hell

I have a subscription to a web designers newsletter and another designer posted a link to a blog post at theoatmeal.com about “How a Web Design Goes Straight to Hell“.

The post is in comic form and is actually very funny but sadly TRUE. A lot of times customers will ask you to design a website for them and they love the site but then they have a “few minor changes”. The customer has decided to input ideas from their friends, children and other family members of how you can make the website “better”. Never mind that these “suggestions” are impossible, make the site slow, ugly or pretty much unusable. Once they are done the site looks nothing like the professional website that you have designed. I am not saying that you can not input client ideas for your website. After all, you are working for them. If you hire a web designer to design a professional website for you, you should trust that the web designer will do the job right.

I can one up this situation. A few years ago, I had this customer who wanted a photo gallery to display his pictures. I created a photo gallery in the manner that he wanted and he said he loved it and he paid me for it. End of job, right? Wrong. A few days later he told me his friends hated it and he wanted me to do it over. I told him I could do it over but I would have to charge him for it. He got angry and demanded a full refund because I did such a “terrible job”. He could care less about the hours I spent working for him putting together all of his pictures in this photo gallery. He paid me with PayPal and tried to get a refund. Luckily I saved the emails from him where he gave me all this praise for the photo gallery and forwarded those on to PayPal. They did not give him a refund. I had the emails and printscreens showing the photo gallery was successfully installed on his website along with his feedback. It’s tough situations like this that make you want to get into another profession!

Thanks for the link Joni Mueller, Pixelita Designs LLC, http://www.pixelita.com/ it made my day. :)

Adsense Tools: Tracking Adsense Growth with Excel Spreadsheet

Here is a rundown of how my free Adsense Excel spreadsheet works and can help you to keep track of your Adsense earnings with Excel.

If you haven’t already, download the basic Excel spreadsheet that you can use to keep track of your own Adsense earnings.

I have the spreadsheet starting you out with December 09. Each day of the week has a different color. First of all in looking at the spreadsheet, you’ll see that Column B has the days of the week beginning with Monday. Column C has the days of the month. Row 5 has the time of the day. 4am, 5am, 6am, etc. So if you first log into check your Adsense account at 7am and you have 20.08 you would type in 10.08 in Column F8. Each time you log in you write in your earnings underneath the correct time.

Column AB has the total earnings for the day. You would input this figure on the next day. For example you would input the earnings for December 1, 2009 on December 2,2009. I believe the earnings are updated around 2:00 in the morning but it will depend on your time zone. You might as well just wait until the next day.

You would continue to follow this simple process each day of the month, entering your daily earnings. The spreadsheet has the sheets already made for December 2009 through March 2010. To make additional sheets for upcoming months, just copy one of the worksheets from the previous months and add the days that mark April 1 through 30. Delete your earnings from the new spreadsheet and that’s it!

Update on Chitika: Fail

Well I had to drop Chitika from my website. I was happy with them for about a month and then the revenue started going down. In August I made approximately $220, September $140, and Oct $50.  The ads were placed on high traffic pages and my website traffic is steadily increasing. I am making more money with other affiliate programs as a result but with Chitika revenue is decreasing.

I noticed that the ads didn’t appear on certain pages where I had added the code. The ad area was just blank.  Chitika let me have the ads displayed on pages without the site visitors having to have come from a search engine. There was no reason for the ads on the pages to be blank. Not displaying the ads is probably the reason for the low revenue. I more like ad programs where you can put them on your site and forget them. I don’t really have time to check each page I added the ads on to see if the ads are being displayed.

Chitika adsAlso the ads now are spaced too close together and have a thin white box on 3 sides of the ads. Weird? When I first set Chitika up the contact and I worked hard to get the ads just right. Chitika obviously changed something on their end without letting me know.

I emailed support about the issue and didn’t receive a timely answer. I was told the contact person I had left the company and some new contact was “supposed” to help me.

After sending two emails I decided to just replace Chitika with Tribal Fusion until I find something better.

Oh Well!

Keeping Track of Adsense Growth

If you use Google Adsense to add revenue to your website you will want to have a way to track of your Adsense growth. While I don’t like to talk about the specifics of my earnings, I will say that I do keep my earnings in an Excel spreadsheet. I try to log into my Adsense account on an hourly basis and jot down my earnings. There is an ongoing debate on whether you should or should not login to your account too much. Some say it decreases earnings some say it doesn’t. Personally I think it does not matter.

While I am not able to log in religiously every hour of everyday to check my stats I try to login as often as I can. I login on the hour and about 10 minutes past the hour. If it’s later than that I wait until the next hour. During business hours it is easy to login every hour because I am already on the computer working and it takes only a few minutes to do so.

adsense earnings excel spreadsheet

After keeping track of your earnings for a while, you will notice a pattern of how your earnings are going. You can see highs and lows and estimate on how much you’ll earn in a particular day. This is very helpful in setting goals for your earnings.

I just recently met a goal for my earnings and am very excited. I can look back at my earnings and see how well I am doing as compared to last year.  I only wish that I had started keeping this spreadsheet earlier.

My excel spreadsheet is broken down by Adsense for Content and For Search earnings, gives me an estimate of earnings for the month, a hourly average, monthly average, and more. Excel is also great for charting data for a visual view of your earnings.

Below is a scaled down basic version of my Adsense Excel spreadsheet that you can use to keep track of your own Adsense earnings.

Review of Vesta Home Show 2009

My family and I went to the Vesta Home show a few weeks ago. For those of you who don’t know it’s a twice a year showing of open homes where you can look at what the home builders are doing in regards to new home construction. The open homes are for sale and are filled with several home decor items like art, rugs, lamps, candles, sofas, pictures and more. Anyone who owns a house or is planning on building a new home should make the trip. This years show is in Arlington, Tennessee and is from October 10 to November 1. Detailed info is here: http://www.mahba.com/vesta/index.html.

There are 8 houses this year and the focus is going green. The houses are smaller than previous years and the price range is $299-354K from several Memphis builders like Signature Homes, Regency Home Builders, Faxon Gillis and more. I enjoyed walking from house to house and looking at the new home accessories. One house actually had a piano playing which was nice. There was even a relaxing Koi pond in the backyard of one house. I really liked the outdoor fireplaces and leisure areas. I guess that’s the “in thing” now. When we build our new house I definitely want to add an outdoor fireplace. There were two homes that had home theaters. I voted for the one with the big red comfy seats as the best home. As usual the man from Henco Furniture was there. I was surprised that his company only decorated one home. In previous years, the decorations were from a mix of designers in each home.  Most of the home decor items were from The Great American Home Store. This year was odd because virtually no items had the price tag on them except for the house that Henco Furniture decorated. I’m definitely going to have to make it down to Henco one of these Saturdays. After the show is over, you can buy home accessories that caught your eye. I remember one year one lady purchased one of the homes along with everything in it. Now that must be NICE!

Well this weekend is the last week of the show, so if you’re going to go you better get to it!
