How to Remove Negative Information About Yourself

What happens when someone googles your name or your companies name? These days more and more people are using the Internet to perform their own “background checks”. If negative, embarrassing, or bad information comes up when your name is googled it could really hurt you and your business. Don’t you wish that this negative information could be hidden?

There are a lot of companies that claim they can remove negative information about you and clean up your online reputation for a fee. I’m not really sure if these companies work or not but I can give you free information of how you can remove negative information posted about you or your business on the Internet.

First, you should contact the websites owner to see if they will remove the negative information. You can find the website’s owner by looking at the websites contact page to email the webmaster. If there is no contact page, look up who owns the domain name to get their email address. Politely send them an email to request that the negative information be removed. Give them atleast a week to respond to your request. The webmasters of Forums and other online communities are reasonable and most likely will comply.

If the siteowner can’t/won’t remove the posting the next best thing that you can do is exchange links with other websites to create a lot of anchored text links with your name as the keyword (which links back to your website) and hope that these new links out rank the bad ones that you don’t want to be shown during a normal website search.

If you do enough links you may be able to ”bury” the bad information. Google doesn’t show all web pages for a particular keyword. It shows only some. I’m not guaranteeing that this will work for every instance but it’s definitely worth a shot!

Enjoy!
