Glitter Graphics

Today I added a gazillion freebie glitter graphics on the website to give away to my site’s visitors.

Myspace and other social networking pages are really popular so the graphics will be useful to my website visitors. I bought a majority of the  glitter graphics a few years ago and finally had the time to put them on my website.  The graphics include comments that you can leave on someones page and and sorts of images.  The themes range from baby, beauty, birthday, christmas,  college, color and more.  

The images I had were all in about 70+ different directories.  I knew it would take a long time to add each image to a page so I decided to get a custom script.  I contracted a freelance programmer to build a script for me that would  read the different graphics directories and list them on a directory index page  in alphabetical order. When I upload new directories/delete directories  the script automatically updates the directory index page. That’s pretty neat. I was very happy to not have to list the graphics on my web page one by one.  I just uploaded the graphics and they are automatically displayed on the page with 5 appearing per page. I went one step further with the script by adding mod rewrite to make the image pages search engine friendly.  It will be easier for search engines to index http://www.hooverwebdesign.com/graphics/free-glitter-graphics/Baby_1.html 

instead of

 http://www.hooverwebdesign .com/graphics/free-glitter-graphics/get_images.php?&page=3&dir_images=Baby. 

I also made it so that each directory page has a different title and description tag so that the pages will be seen as unique pages and not duplicate content.

I’m really happy with the way the script turned out and I know my site visitors will appreciate it too.  Total cost for this script was $170USD. Cost of glitter images $50+USD Not too bad.
