If you're new to Google Adwords, these are keyword-based,
sponsored ads which appear as the top two listings, or down
the right-hand side of a Google Results page. Google charges
the advertiser a fee (ranging from 5 cents, to tens of $)
each time someone clicks on the ad.
In Adwords, you are permitted one line for the headline,
not to exceed twenty-five characters, and two lines for
copy, not to exceed thirty-five characters. That is all!
This takes into account spaces that count as a character.
To many, short means simple, correct? No true! A writer
will
tell you that it's much harder to write short content compared
to wordier, long content. In short content, every word must
make a strong impact. This compact writing will create better
search and traffic results.
Google Adwords space has little room for garbage. A well-written Google Adwords is approved faster by Google. Plus, Google ads that are written with purpose have better click-through rates and better responsive visitors. Astonishing how 3 lines of about 70 characters has such power!
Moving a reader to perform an action is the main intent of a tightly written Adwords. Pay close attention to picking optimized keywords and phrases for your Adwords that you know will work in a fashion that brings results.
Great copy for an AdWord doesn't happen in a wink of an eye. Below are 10 tips:
1. The inverted triangle approach to writing will help you brainstorm material. Start with the most important points and use copy and language that hold meaning for your target audience. Then, trim your material using the following tips.
2. Move a visitor to perform a click by using attention-grabbers, power words and listing benefits. Get these ideas by brainstorming into two column where the first column is for listing features and the second is for listing the benefits of these features.
3. Attention-grabbers must be true. Does the claim make
you raise your eyebrows? Don't use "free" if there's
a catch. Google has guidelines you must comply with
(https://adwords.google.com/select/guidelines.html).
4. Don't skirt around what your customers want. The power of the Internet allows your customers to look for you and they want something specific. Announce loud and clear that you're there by using a headline that's precise.
5. Keywords should be split-tested for their power on Results
in Google Search. Plus, test several versions of your Adword
on Google and change an ad that's not performing well. Even
by changing one word, your click-through ratio can sky rocket.
Google will drop ads that perform very
poorly.
6. Program your Adword with square brackets around keywords
and a customized headline. Google bolds your ad's keywords
when a result matches the search. A dynamic headline can
be
customized to match the keywords in the search by using
"Keyword:" in brackets. For instance, [Keyword:
Google Adwords Writing].
7. Drop unnecessary words such as an, a, on, in, of, and it.
8. What makes you unique or shine? Loudly state it what makes you better than a competitor. For instance, do you offer discounts?
9. Save the deals or freebies for the end. This reduces click-through visitors who want it all for nothing.
10. Words packed with energy and emotion are call-to-action words. Pick powerful words and statements that closely match your product or service. Some power words include these, discover and enhance.
Compact writing identifies specifically the information needed in order for the visitor to perform an action. This focus will improve your click-through rate. Also, you'll notice your own conversion ratio improve when you work to write effective Google Adwords.
